Vita di S. Caterina da Bologna scritta da Illuminata Bembo
Testo italiano e note a cura di Juri Leoni
Through a text distant from us more than five centuries, the reader is led to relive the extraordinary experience of a group of brave women of noble origins, eager to live radically their vocation as Poor Sisters of Saint Clare.
The figure that stands out within this group is that of Saint Catherine of Bologna, raised and educated in the refined Este court in Ferrara, where she studied music, painting, dance, learned to poetise and became expert in the art of thumbnail.
Entering the monastery of Ferrara, she will then be sent to Bologna to give life to the new Corpus Domini monastery, where her body is still kept today.
His disciple Illuminata Bembo, of a noble Venetian family, a few years after his death, will tell the life of the Saint who is published here in a new version.
