In the Basilica of St. Clare, in Assisi, for eight centuries a large painted panel has been discreetly preserved, bearing perhaps the oldest image of Chiara, the saint who at eighteen did not hesitate to flee her father's house to follow Francis and his companions thus giving rise to a human and Christian adventure that still fascinates and questions today.
Sr. Maria Chiara Riva, Clarissa of the S. Chiara monastery in Milan, uses that painted table as a reliable guide to reconstruct the essential elements of the life of St. Clare.
We are thus led into a triple journey: in space, in the direction of Assisi; over time, to discover that such a distant era was inhabited, like ours, by a profound search for meaning and a desire for essentiality; finally we are accompanied to the rediscovery of that interior life which is the only one that makes our existence authentically human.
