The idea that guided the Israeli scholar in this study was to present the iconographic tradition of Saint Clare, starting from the most famous medieval images to arrive until the early modern period.
While on the subject of St. Francis and the art there is a huge amount of studies, little attention has been paid to the image of St. Clare: the works that represent it have been discussed only occasionally.
The book aims to show how representations of Santa Chiara in medieval art constitute the background that enables understanding of novelty and continuity with the tradition present in the early modern period.
